Proven Fact: The best article titles grab the readers attention.

I am going to show you how to write great article headlines and a list of the top article titles. If you want an article that generates traffic you must entice the reader with an explosive headline. Your headline will draw attention to your article. Articles with dull headlines are a waste space and time. No one reads them,  traffic is not generated and you do not make money with lame duck titles.

A powerful headline can make the difference between a succesful article and dud. You do want to generate traffic, right? If so you need to write headlines that explode. Your headline must be pursasive leading the reader to want more. You can do this by using power words or words with phycological triggers. These words make people want to take action and read the information you provide.

Always keep your headline short and to the point.  As a general rule of thumb keep down to 4-10 words. Since most article marketing directories use your article title as the page title it will be listed in search engine results.  Therefore it is wise to use a maximum of 64 characters to ensure Google will list your entire title in the search results. You mostly just want enough of the title listed in the search index to tell the reader what the article is about.

I have seen several authors that try using advanced termonology that people do not understand.  If the reader does not understand words in the title they will look for a different article to read. You can impress the reader by proving yourself in the article body. Your title should clearly tell the reader what the article is about by using your main keywords or keyword phrase.

If you use your keywords correctly your author will know what to expect when they read your article. If you misslead them they may get disapointed once they read your article.  Don't get me wrong there is a time and place to use missleading titles.. Major news sites use them sometimes to draw readers in.

The keywords in the title also help people find your article.  If you performed keyword research to find phrases that people are searching for they will find your article.  Titles without keywords can not be found and do not generate traffic. Hence, no one can find it. It may be the best article in the world, but if no one can find it no one can read it.

Use your imagination to write a clever headline.  For instance you could use an idom if used correctly.  If you are not clever just keep your title simple and clear. That is what I ussually do so that the reader knows exactly what I am going to talk about in my article.

When all else fails use these proven and top headline templates;

  1. “How To _____________________”, “Discover How ______________”, or “Learn How ____________”
  2. “Secrets of _________________ Revealed!”
  3. WARNING: Don’t Even Think of ___________ Until You __________.
  4. “Who Else Wants To _____________________”
  5. Now You Can Have/Do [desirable outcome or circumstance]
  6. “They Laughed When I ____________, But When I ______________”
  7. Give Me [short time period] and I’ll Give You [desired outcome]
  8. The Lazy [person in market’s] Way to [desired outcome]
  9. See How Easily You Can [desirable result]
  10. You Don’t Have to Be [something challenging] to be [desired result]
  11. Here is a Method That is Helping [blank] to [blank]
  12. Little Known Ways to [blank]
  13. Get Rid of [problem] Once and For All
  14. Here’s a Quick Way to [solve a problem]
  15. [Do something] like [world-class example]
  16. Have a [or] Build a [blank] You Can Be Proud Of
  17. What Everybody Ought to Know About [blank]

Insert your main keyword phrase and you will have an article headline that simply works.

Another great method I like to do is looking at popular newspapers and magazines for headlines. They have been doing this for years and have some of the most talented writers in the world. There is a method to their madness.
